Part 2 – By Ron Pestone
In addition to www.elmpost.com are our three new Construction Professional groups on the three major social networks: Goggle+, Facebook and LinkedIn
CONSTRUCTION PROS on Goggle
CONSTRUCTION PROS PLUS on Facebook
CONSTRUCTION PROS on LinkedIn
These three new groups are growing surprisingly fast and we invite all interested parties to join one or all three.
Why three separate groups? First, each social network attracts different people and by encompassing the three major social networks it is our aim to reach the largest cross section of people and companies actively involved in construction. Second, each social network has specific rules and if you are a member you must abide by them. As an example, LinkedIn at the present time only allows an individual the ability to join a maximum of 50 groups. So if you are maxed out and do not want to give up any of your present groups go to one of our other groups, either CONSTRUCTION PROS PLUS on Facebook or CONSTRUCTION PROS on Goggle+ and join one or both. Third, most groups do not permit the promotion of another group or social network in their postings and will remove them as soon as they are posted accompanied by and e-mail to the offender warning them not to do it again. We have a much different philosophy in all our groups. We encourage all our members to promote themselves, their ideas, their services and their companies as well as any other group or social network they belong to. It is our belief that it is a big world out there and there is more than enough room for all of us.
All of our groups have the same basic rules in which we request that any individual or company that posts with us do it without rants or raves and that they not repeat themselves.
A word about the three Social Networks and what our experience has been so far:
LinkedIn is the established professional network in which we have over 6,000 1st connections and growing and belong to the maximum of 50 groups, the majority of which are construction groups. Our new group, CONSTRUCTION PROS, can be found by going to Groups, then Groups Directory click the box for English then type in our name at SEARCH KEYWORDS. One of the limitations of LinkedIn is that you cannot post a photo with your posting in either Discussion or Promotion and in today’s world that in our opinion is a serious limitation because you cannot post great construction photos with your post and people in general on the internet love photos. So do we. Also, most groups do not permit the promotion of another group or social network.
Goggle+ has been a real unexpected surprise. In addition to being user friendly finding individuals to put in your circles that have the same interests as you, like construction is relatively easy. We are at present reaching the 5,000 mark for individuals in our circles. In addition Goggle+ has made and is making a real effort to connect professionals in their relatively new feature, COMMUNITIES. Our community CONSTRUCTION PROS which is growing rapidly can be found by typing in our name CONSTRUCTION PROS in the search box or by clicking on https://plus.google.com/communities/112151427329102086681 This is a fairly recent feature on Goggle+ so the communities tend to be smaller than on LinkedIn but the growth rate at Goggle+ is really impressive. On Goggle+ when you are posting you can post a photo with your posting and that really makes for some great posts. In addition there is no distinction between Discussion and Promotion, you just post. On Goggle+ most communities let you promote your community as long as it’s done in moderation.
Facebook, the largest social network with over 220 million users holds much promise for professionals who want to network. You can find our group easily by typing in our name, CONSTRUCTION PROS PLUS at the box, SEARCH FOR PEOPLE PLACES AND THINGS. Like Goggle+ you can post a photo with your posting and there is no distinction between Discussion and Promotion, you simply post.
Three different worlds with loads of appeal for everyone in construction coupled with our blog www.elmpost.com and you have the recipe for making the construction industry better for everyone. Come and join our family and be part of the turbocharged internet and social network revolution.
